How I train
I have a bunch of races I want to complete in 2010. I can join any number of training groups here in Austin, but none of them do what I want.
So I went and got my own certifications, and using mine and my friends’ experience, I’m working on a CrossFit and CrossFit Endurance focused training program for endurance sports. I should be able to do a sprint to Olympic distance tri with little trouble, anytime. I should be able to complete a long bike ride whenever I want. If it’s an A-race, I should be able to peak in 6 weeks or less and PR the race.
It’s possible, and I’m doing it now. Here’s what I do. What do you think?
- Follow CrossFit HQ schedule: 3 days on, 1 day off. Do either the CrossFit Endurance Anaerobic Endurance workouts or the ones prescribed by my gym (depending on what I’ve got going on in a given day).
- Get one track workout in per week.
- Get one interval cycling workout in per week.
- Swim as much as possible — at least one interval workout per week, one tempo workout per week.
- Periodic time trials, every couple weeks, focusing on longer distances.
