paleo/zone concepts make cnn

CNN has an article today on a dude who wants six pack abs, and has found that doing crunches is not enough (gasp!).  from the article…

Every day, Jason Dinant chows down 16 hard-boiled egg whites, one and a quarter pound of meat and four cups of vegetables, sprinkled with an occasional carbohydrate.

it’s a tough diet to follow,  but it really does work!

    His diet is fairly carb and protein heavy, and extremely low fat:
    Meal 1: 8 egg whites, 2 servings of cream of rice

    Meal 2: 5 ounces lean meat or fish, 1 cup brown rice, 1 cup veggies

    Meal 3: 5 ounces lean meat, 1 cup rice, 1 cup veggies

    Meal 4: 5 ounces lean meat or fish, 6-ounce potato or sweet potato, 1 cup veggies

    Meal 5: 5 ounces lean meat, 1 cup veggies, 6-ounce potato

    Meal 6: 8 egg whites, 1 serving of cream of rice

    Unfortunately he has bought into the low-fat high-carb way of life, and is clearly operating at a calorie deficit. It may succeed in getting him his short term goal – a six pack for his reunion – but in the long term he is doomed to failure, as are well over 90% of dieters.
