Couches are for more than sitting

Coach Kstar over at CrossFit San Francisco is running a series of posts on their blog about using your couch to stretch various oft-neglected body parts. Currently he’s got hips and quads up there. The nice thing is that it pretty much just requires you, your couch, and some pain management — you could do this during commercials or crappy football games. I’ve tried it while playing Rock Band, and that doesn’t work quite as well.
I’ve tried the quad stretch; it works. I have yet to make it over to the couch to try the hip stretch, but it looks I might even have enough room in my tiny living room to pull this one off. For me, the hip stretch (and his explanation around it) really hits home, since as a runner and cyclist, my hips are pretty much tight all the time.
I’ll give it a shot tonight when I visit my couch again.
